Is Johor Bahru Ready For "Rapid JB" Bus Service?...

At the time this blogpost was being typed... Rapid bus service is only available in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. These bus services are known as "Rapid KL" and "Rapid Penang".

The special thing about this bus service is because this bus service is disabled person friendly because it makes it easier for those in wheelchairs to get on this bus. In addition... passengers can also pay in cashless by using Touch & Go card and Touch & Go eWallet.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... there were rumors that the government wanted to bring this bus service to Johor Bahru which would be known as "Rapid JB".

If asked the author of this blog... is it suitable for this bus service to exist in the Johor Bahru district now?... in the opinion of the author of this blog.. why not? Johor Bahru is the second largest city in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur... therefore... it is very suitable for the cosmopolitan district of Johor Bahru to have a bus public transport system such as "Rapid" which can be known as "Rapid JB".

Anyway... the author of this blog hopes this thing can become real one day in the future.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... Iskandar Malaysia area is in full swing in planning to establish a BRT line in the cosmopolitan area.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... on the website https://www.imbrt.com.my/ stated that there are 3 routes for this BRT public transport service system, namely Tebrau Route, Iskandar Puteri Route & Skudai Route.

Each of these routes has a station that will be a stop for each of these BRT buses. Unlike the regular transit bus public transport system... this BRT bus public transport system will only stop at the designated BRT stations. The BRT bus public transport system also have its own road routes and does not share with other regular vehicles. Therefore... although the type of vehicle used by the BRT public transport system is a bus, but the way of operating the public transport system is the same as the lrt / mrt public transport system.

The Tebrau route connects Desa Jaya to Lido Beach... Iskandar Puteri route connects Medini Iskandar to Skudai Kiri... Skudai route connects Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to Wadi Hassan.

With the existence of this BRT public transport system can help reduce road congestion in the cosmopolitan district of Johor Bahru.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... Iskandar Malaysia area still does not have lrt service in the cosmopolitan area as in the megalopolitan area of the Klang Valley.

As the second largest urbanization area in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur... in the opinion of the author of this blog... it is time for the cosmopolitan district of Johor Bahru to have its own lrt service to provide services to the people of the cosmopolitan district of Johor Bahru.

Anyway... the author of this blog hopes that one day... this thing can become real in the future.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... there were rumors stating that the Malaysian and Singaporean governments would like to reopen the door to negotiate to resume high-speed rail (HSR) projects connecting Kuala Lumpur - Singapore through several stations.

Among the HSR stop stations is the Johor Bahru station which is likely to be located in the Iskandar Puteri area.

The existence of HSR in several countries such as Japan, South Korea, China and France has proven that the existence of HSR does play an important role in influencing the economic impact on the country because it can connect the population in large and small urban areas economically and socially.

There are several countries that are interested in building this HSR line such as India and Indonesia in their countries. Therefore... Malaysia should not be left behind in the current economic development.

If this HSR project can impact economic development to the country... imagine what the impact will be on a district and the people of Johor Bahru in general.

One of the economic effects that can hit the Johor Bahru district when the HSR project and stop station in Iskandar Puteri is completed and started operating... there will be a sharp population growth as a result of the large number of migrants from outside the district to live in this district but working in big cities like Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as the cost of living in this district is still lower than in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Anyway... the author of this blog hopes this thing will become real one day in the future.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... the state of Johor only has 2 "sentral" public land transport terminals, namely Larkin Sentral and JB Sentral.

The sentral meaning here is not only as a larger and more modern public land transport terminal but also the number of public land transport routes such as buses are enhanced and amplified.

JB Sentral is an important public land transport terminal in the state of Johor and even one of the most important in peninsular Malaysia because it is the southern entrance of the country for those who want to go to Singapore or come from that country.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... the state of Johor only has 2 "sentral" public land transport terminals, namely Larkin Sentral and JB Sentral.

The sentral meaning here is not only as a larger and more modern public land transport terminal but also the number of public land transport routes such as buses are enhanced and amplified.

Larkin Sentral is an important public land transport terminal in the state of Johor because it connects the public land transport system to almost the entire state of Johor and several places in peninsular Malaysia.

Senai International Airport is an international airport located in Senai parish, Kulai district.

This international airport is not only the largest international airport in the state of Johor but also the largest on the south west coast of peninsular Malaysia. In the south west coast of peninsular Malaysia... there are two international airports namely Senai International Airport located in Kulai district and another is Melaka International Airport located in Batu Berendam, Central Malacca district.

In the opinion of the author of this blog... Senai International Airport still has the potential to further expand the size of this international airport so that more flight routes can be created and existing flight routes can be increased flight frequency in accordance with the status of Iskandar Malaysia as a major cosmopolitan area south west coast of peninsular Malaysia.

Hopefully one day in the future... this international airport will continue to thrive and grow rapidly.

In the district of Johor Bahru... there are two international ports, namely Pasir Gudang Port & Tanjung Pelepas Port.

Pasir Gudang Port is located in the eastern area of Johor Bahru district while Tanjung Pelepas Port is located in the western area of Johor Bahru district.

Tanjung Pelepas Port is the second international port located in the Johor Bahru district after Pasir Gudang Port.

The author of this blog hopes that this port can grow faster and equipped with the latest modern features so that this port can remain competitive with international ports in the region.

Smart way to book a taxi in Iskandar Malaysia

JOHOR BAHRU, July 12 (Bernama) -- Perbadanan Pengangkutan Awam Iskandar Malaysian (Paim), in partnership with MyTeksi, has launched a new system to book taxis, using mobile and web-based application.

Paim, which is the state government's Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in public transport, said the system was part of efforts to transform public transportation services in the Iskandar Malaysia development region.

"We believe that with the introduction of this system, the taxi ride in Iskandar Malaysia will be more efficient, easy and safe," said Paim chief executive Mohd Gadaffie Abd Aziz during a launching ceremony here last night.

The system utilises an application produced by MyTeksi that could be downloaded via iPhones, iPads and Androids.

The application, which is also named MyTeksi, would help commuters to book taxis via their smartphones in a fast, convenient and safe manner.

Explaining how the system works, MyTeksi general manager Adelene Foo said upon launching the application, MyTeksi would detect the commuter's location using smartphone's global positioning System (GPS).

"The commuter will select the desired destination and the nearby taxi will be shown on the application.

"After selecting the taxi, the commuter will receive a booking confirmation within one minute where information such as estimated time of arrival, taxi plate number, driver's contact details, estimated fare and an option for tips will be prompted," she said, adding that commuters would be able to track the real-time location of the booked taxi.

MyTeksi application has 'Share My Ride' tool to enable the commuter's loved ones to track the location of their ride in real time.

Foo said the application was introduced in Klang Valley a couple of years back and currently, there were 2,000 taxi drivers who used the application in the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Negeri Sembilan.

Gadaffie said Paim embarked on the usage of the MyTeksi application with taxi drivers from Koperasi Permodalan Melayu Negeri Johor (KPMNJ).

"About 30 of them are ready to use the application at the moment. They will be given a two-day refresher course in taxi driving where they will receive a RM200 allowance that could be used to buy an entry level smartphone," he said.

By year-end, Paim hopes to achieve 1,000 registered taxi drivers using the application.

Meanwhile, KPMNJ treasurer Mokhtar A. Aziz who was also present at the event, said taxi drivers had no problem adapting to the new technology, even though most of them were in their 40s, and probably, possessed the least information and communication technology (ICT) know-how.
