The capital of Johor is Johor Bahru. Before Johor Bahru became the capital of Johor... there are several places that used to be the capital of Johor, among them are Johor Lama (Kota Tinggi District) and Teluk Belangah (Singapore).

Just as the capital Malaysia is located in Kuala Lumpur while the federal administrative center is located in Putrajaya... the state of Johor is also following the steps of the federal government to reduce urban congestion by moving part of the administration to a new urbanization area.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... the capital of Johor is still the cosmopolitan city center of Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) while most of the Johor state government administration was transferred to Iskandar Puteri (Medini Iskandar).

However... moving a capital or state / territory capital to a new location is not an odd thing. There are some countries that have moved the capital / state capital / regional capital to a new location... even when this blogpost is being typed... neighboring countries such as the Republic of Indonesia are in the process of moving the Indonesian capital from Jakarta to an area within North Penajam Paser area and Kutai Kertanegara area (both of these areas are located within the province of East Kalimantan).

In Malaysia... the state of Selangor once made history when it moved the process of transferring the capital of Selangor from Kuala Lumpur to Shah Alam because around the 70s... the federal government at that time wanted to make the district of Kuala Lumpur a federal territory.

The isolation of the capital / state capital / provincial capital from the commercial city of the country / state / territory is also not an odd one like the example of the United States whose capital is Washington DC while the main commercial city of the country is the city of New York... China whose capital is Beijing while the country's main commercial city is Shanghai... India whose capital is New Delhi while the country's main commercial city is Mumbai. In Indonesia, there are provincial capitals that are not the main commercial city of a province such as the Riau Islands province whose capital is Tanjungpinang while the main commercial capital of the province is Batam.

Therefore... it is not impossible if one day in the future... the capital of Johor have the potential to be moved from the cosmopolitan city center of Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) to the city of Iskandar Puteri (Medini Iskandar). If that happens (the transfer of the capital of Johor from the cosmopolitan city center of Johor Bahru / Tanjung Puteri to Iskandar Puteri / Medini Iskandar)... the cosmopolitan city center of Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) can still serve as the main commercial city of the state of Johor.

Anyway... the author of this blog hopes one day in the future... this thing can become real ...

Ibu negeri Johor ialah Johor Bahru. Sebelum Johor Bahru menjadi ibu negeri Johor... terdapat beberapa tempat yang pernah menjadi ibu negeri Johor ini antaranya ialah Johor Lama (Daerah Kota Tinggi) dan Teluk Belangah (Singapura).

Seperti mana Malaysia yang ibu negara terletak di Kuala Lumpur manakala pusat pentadbiran persekutuan terletak di Putrajaya... negeri Johor juga seperti mengikut langkah kerajaan pusat untuk mengurangkan kesesakan bandar dengan memindahkan sebahagian pentadbiran ke suatu kawasan urbanisasi yang baru.

Pada ketika blogpost ini sedang ditaip... ibu negeri Johor masih pusat bandaraya kosmopolitan Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) manakalan sebahagian besar pentadbiran kerajaan negeri Johor dipindahkan ke bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (Medini Iskandar).

Namun begitu... perpindahan sesebuah ibu negara atau ibu negeri / wilayah ke lokasi baru bukanlah sesuatu yang ganjil. Terdapat beberapa buah negara yang telah melakukan perpindahan ibu negara / ibu negeri / ibu wilayah ke lokasi baru... bahkan pada ketika blogpost ini sedang ditaip... negara jiran seperti Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI) sedang dalam proses pemindahan ibu negara Indonesia dari Jakarta ke suatu kawasan di dalam daerah Penajam Paser Utara dan daerah Kutai Kertanegara (kedua-dua daerah ini terletak di dalam wilayah Kalimantan Timur).

Di Malaysia pula... negeri Selangor pernah mencatatkan sejarah apabila melakukan proses pemindahan ibu negeri Selangor dari Kuala Lumpur ke Shah Alam kerana pada sekitar tahun 70an... kerajaan persekutuan pada ketika itu mahu menjadikan daerah Kuala Lumpur sebagai wilayah persekutuan.

Pengasingan ibu negara / ibu negeri / ibu wilayah dengan kota komersil negara / negeri / wilayah juga bukanlah sesuatu yang ganjil seperti contoh Amerika Syarikat yang mana ibu negaranya ialah Washington DC manakala kota komersil utama negara ialah bandaraya New York... China yang ibu negaranya ialah Beijing manakala kota komersil utama negara ialah Shanghai... India yang ibu negaranya ialah New Delhi manakala kota komersil utama negara ialah Mumbai. Di Indonesia pula terdapat ibu wilayah yang bukan kota komersil utama sesuatu wilayah seperti contoh wilayah Kepulauan Riau yang mana ibu wilayahnya ialah Tanjungpinang manakala kota komersil utama wilayah ialah Batam.

Oleh itu... bukanlah sesuatu yang mustahil jika suatu hari nanti pada masa akan datang... ibu negeri Johor berpotensi untuk dipindahkan dari pusat bandaraya kosmopolitan Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) ke bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (Medini Iskandar). Jika perkara tersebut berlaku (perpindahan ibu negeri Johor dari pusat bandaraya kosmopolitan Johor Bahru / Tanjung Puteri ke Iskandar Puteri / Medini Iskandar)... pusat bandaraya kosmopolitan Johor Bahru (Tanjung Puteri) masih boleh berperanan sebagai kota komersil utama negeri Johor.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... the Pasir Gudag Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang, MPPG) area had a boarding school, namely the MARA Science Junior College (Maktab Rendah Sains MARA, MRSM) Johor Bahru located in Seri Alam, Pasir Gudang.

Although Pasir Gudang is not a district with full district status but there is still potential for the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang, MPPG) area to have more than one boarding school in the opinion of the blog author.

The author of this blog hopes that one day in the future... this thing can become real.

Pada ketika blogpost ini sedang ditaip... kawasan Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudag (MPPG) terapat sebuah sekolah berasrama iaitu Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Johor Bahru yang terletak di Seri Alam, Pasir Gudang.

Walaupun Pasir Gudang bukan sebuah daerah berstatus daerah penuh tetapi masih terdapat potensi untuk kawasan Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang (MPPG) mempunyai lebih daripada satu sekolah berasrama pada pandangan pengarang blog.

At the time this blogpost was being typed... the Skudai area (Parish of Tebrau & Parish of Pulai) did not have a boarding school let alone a full boarding school. It can be said that almost all districts throughout Malaysia have boarding schools.

Sultan Abu Bakar College (Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar, MSAB) or better known by locals in Johor Bahru district as English College (EC) is the oldest secondary school in the state of Johor. This high school was established in 1914.

This secondary school is one of the premier schools and high school of excellence in the district of Johor Bahru.

This boarding school is located at Jalan Sungai Chat, Sri Gelam near Dataran Bandaraya, Taman Nong Chik, Thistle Hotel, Johor State RTM Broadcasting Center & Bukit Serene Palace (Sultan of Johor Palace). A few kilometers from this secondary school... located Sultanah Aminah Hospital (Hospital Sultanah Aminah, HSA).

Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (MSAB) atau lebih dikenali oleh warga tempatan daerah Johor Bahru sebagai English College (EC) merupakan sekolah menengah tertua di negeri Johor ini. Sekolah menengah ini ditubuhkan pada tahun 1914.

Johor Bahru District have several public universities in this district, among them is Malaysia Technology University (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM) located in Skudai. The university is more focused on technology and engineering.

The history of the establishment of public institutions of higher education began in 1904 with the establishment of the Treacher Technical School in Weld Road, Kuala Lumpur or Weld Road is now known as Jalan Raja Chulan.

In 1942... The Treacher Technical School was upgraded to a Technical College. In 1971... The Technical College was once again upgraded to the National Institute of Technology (Instituts Teknologi Kebangsaan, ITK).

The excellence of public institutions of higher education did not stop there and in 1975... once again the public institution of higher education was upgraded with a new name, Malaysia Technology University (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, UTM) until now when this blogpost was being typed.

The rapid growth of this university makes the Gurney Road campus unable to accommodate the needs of space and other facilities. With the consent of His Majesty the late Sultan Ismail, Sultan of Johor, this university has built a new campus in Skudai which covers an area of 2400 acres. Construction work began in 1978.

The new campus worth more than one billion Malaysian ringgit was inaugurated by DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agong, the late Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail as the second Chancellor of UTM on 16 September 1985.

Daerah Johor Bahru mempunyai beberapa buah universiti awam di dalam daerah ini antaranya ialah Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) yang terletak di Skudai. Universiti tersebut lebih menjurus kepada bidang teknologi dan kejuruteraan.

Kemerlangan institusi pengajian tinggi awam (IPTA) tersebut tidak terhenti setakat itu dan pada tahun 1975... sekali lagi institusi pengajian tinggi awam (IPTA) tersebut dinaitaraf dengan nama baru iaitu Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) sehinggalah sekarang pada ketika blogpost ini sedang ditaip.

Pertumbuhan pesat universiti ini menjadikan kampus Jalan Gurney tidak dapat menampung keperluan ruang dan kemudahan-kemudahan lain. Dengan perkenan Duli Yang Maha Mulia Almarhum Sultan Ismail, Sultan Johor, universiti ini telah membina kampus baru di Skudai yang meliputi kawasan seluas 2400 ekar. Kerja-kerja pembinaan telah bermula pada tahun 1978.

Kampus baru yang bernilai lebih satu billion ringgit Malaysia telah di rasmikan oleh DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Dipertuan Agong, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail juga selaku Canselor UTM yang kedua pada 16 September 1985.

While this blogpost is being typed... most local government-owned radios through the Malaysian Broadcasting Department under the Ministry of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia are only at the state level.

Unlike in our neighboring country, the Republic of Indonesia... Malaysia does not have a local public television station at the state and regional levels. Indonesia not only have public television stations at the national level but there are even public television stations in every province operated by the Republic of Indonesia Television (Televisi Republik Indonesia, TVRI) while at the district / city level there are radio stations local public operated by Republic of Indonesia Radio (Radio Republik Indonesia, RRI).

In further enhancing efforts to deliver the platform of aspirations and government policies to the people, convey local news information to the people, preserve / nurture / further develop local cultural arts... in the opinion of the authors of this blog... it is time for Radio Television Malaysia (Radio Televisyen Malaysia, RTM) one step further by creating local public television stations in each state and local public radio stations in each district, subdistrict and local authority under the operation of Radio Television Malaysia (Radio Televisyen Malaysia, RTM).

Johor Bahru district as a cosmopolitan district on the south west coast of peninsular Malaysia has the potential to have more than one local RTM radio station one day in the future. Among the local RTM radio stations that have the potential to be created in this cosmopolitan district is "Radio Pasir Gudang FM" which focuses on listeners of Pasir Gudang residents (citizens of the administrative area of Pasir Gudang Municipal Council / Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang, MPPG).

Ketika blogpost ini sedang ditaip... kebanyakkan radio tempatan milik kerajaan menerusi Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia di bawah Kementerian Komunikasi & Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) hanya di peringkat negeri sahaja.

Tidak seperti di negara jiran kita iaitu Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI)... Malaysia tidak mempunyai stesen radio awam tempatan di peringkat daerah, daerah kecil dan pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT). Indonesia bukan sahaja mempunyai stesen televisyen awam di peringkat nasional tapi bahkan jua terdapat stesyen televisyen awam di setiap provinsi (wilayah) yang dikendalikan oleh Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) manakala di peringkat kabupaten (daerah) / kota (bandar/bandaraya) pula terdapat stesen radio awam tempatan yang dikendalikan oleh Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI).

Dalam menpertingkatkan lagi usaha penyampaian wadah aspirasi serta dasar kerajaan kepada rakyat, menyampaikan maklumat berita tempatan kepada rakyat, memelihara/memupuk/mengembangkan lagi seni kebudayaan tempatan... pada pandangan pengarang blog ini... sudah tiba masanya Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) mengorak selangkah lagi ke hadapan dengan mewujudkan stesyen televisyen awam tempatan di setiap negeri dan stesyen radio awam tempatan di setiap daerah, daerah kecil dan pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) di bawah kendalian Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).
